Windows ME - Gateway Performance 1400
Question:

My system runs windows ME. How can I be sure the memory upgrade will work? How can I tell if my computer is on that is listed? On the packing slip it says Performance 1400. What does the number in front of the RDRAM mean? is that the pin count?
Answer:

Before I answer the rest of your questions, let me state that Windows ME is only compatible with 1GB of memory. Any more will keep the system from booting.

All of our PC800-45 memory is compatible with your Performance 1400. The first number in the RDRAM specification is the speed at which the memory runs at. RDRAM runs at twice the motherboard speed of your computer. Since your computer has a 400mhz motherboard it uses PC800 memory (400 x 2).
