I would like to upgrade my memory, but I'm not sure if i need PC800-45 or -40. I know it's non ECC. My service tag is 2ss4vo1 and I would like to buy a 1gig (2x512). Can you recommend the proper type. Thank you in advance for your time.

All of our is guaranteed compatible in your Dimension 8100. (In fact most of our sales are for this computer.)
Our memory is all ECC, however, in the Dimension 8100 this functionality is automatically disabled and the memory acts as Non-ECC. All of our memory is guaranteed to work and can be returned for any reason.
