Dimension 8200 Speed / Latency Questions
Question:

I do have a question about the 40 versus 45 nsec issue. Are you confident that the slower 45 is the correct choice? Is there anything I have to “set so that the computer is aware of the second 512 memory? Lastly, does this come with a set of installation instructions?
Answer:

On Dimension 8200's with Processor speeds of less than 2.26Ghz,  PC800-45 RDRAM is the correct memory speed. (These computers use a 400mhz FSB which uses PC800-45 memory).

You will not have to do anything special to make the computer aware of the new memory; simply install the memory as detailed in the included installation instructions and boot the computer. The computer will acknowledge the new memory and boot normally.
